The Solano solar lantern, 30 cm across and 55 cm high. The panel is set flush into the lid — nothing to plug in, no cable to bury.

Material

PE rattan over an aluminium frame, energy-saving LED, polycrystalline silicon solar panel

Natural PE rattan with a black solar cap

Rattan is wound by hand, so the pitch of the winding and the depth of colour vary between pieces and from the photographs. On solar models the run time depends on how much direct sun the panel actually saw that day.

Specifications

Care: Wipe the rattan with a dry soft cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry at once -- standing water swells natural fibre and PE rattan alike.
Solar models: keep the panel on the top clear of dust and leaf litter, which is what shortens a night's run more than anything else.
Charge a new lantern in full sun for two days before first use, and bring it indoors over a long wet winter.
Indoor lamps: dust along the weave rather than across it, and keep them out of direct sun, which yellows natural rattan. Full care guide
